The Stuttgart publishing house ibidem has published the book “Die faktualen und fiktionalen Texte Jiří Weils” written by Marie Brunová, a member of the Centre. This book comes out in a series focusing on the literature and culture of Central and Eastern Europe.
The book presents results of many years of research into the works of the Czech writer, journalist and translator of Jewish origin Jiří Weil (1900-1959). This communist-oriented author wrote reports, short stories and novels. The author Marie Brunová classifies Weil’s texts within the framework of the theory of fictional texts fictionality and subjects them to critical analysis. In doing so, she touches not only on the genesis of the texts, but also on some of the disputed or unexplained points in Weil’s biography.
